AEL member services

AEL has strengthened itself every year since 2005..

Since 2005, the Association of Educational Leaders (AEL) has demonstrated consistent growth and increased strength, bolstered by the steady support of Unit 2 members. Although membership continues to expand each year, the Association remains focused on reaching full participation to maximize its impact. AEL's strategic efforts have led to meaningful gains through negotiations, aligning Anne Arundel County’s compensation structures more closely with those of neighboring and comparable school systems. These improvements directly benefit all Unit 2 members by enhancing equity, competitiveness, and professional recognition.

AEL is committed to ensuring the fair and consistent implementation of negotiated agreements and Board Policy, safeguarding both the spirit and the letter of those commitments. This advocacy protects the professional interests of its members and promotes a stable, supportive working environment. The Association’s continued success empowers Unit 2 members to better serve students, support families, and fulfill their professional responsibilities with confidence and clarity.

By investing in AEL membership, individuals contribute to the collective strength necessary to maintain progress and secure future advancements. The annual dues represent a modest contribution toward sustaining a strong, united voice that advocates for excellence in leadership and education across the county.

Our Goal

100% uNIT 2 MEMBERSHIP IN AEL

THIS is a reasonable objective...

Achieving full membership among Unit 2 employees is both a reasonable and attainable objective. The Association of Educational Leaders (AEL) believes that stronger, more frequent communication between members and leadership is essential to fostering unity and advancing the collective interests of all members. In support of this goal, AEL has reorganized its leadership structure to enhance outreach and engagement efforts. This reorganization is specifically designed to bring membership recruitment efforts closer to individual members, ensuring that support, information, and advocacy are more accessible and responsive. Strengthening these connections is a key step toward building a fully unified and empowered association.

Our Goal

Helping the children

Total Unit 2 support of AEL is much greater than just numbers.

It is children and young people. It is creating a climate where teachers can do their best. It is preserving the fire-wall between the pressures of wrongful external self-interests and the application of "best practices" in every school and classroom throughout Anne Arundel County.
